Identifying Colors

We all know that kids can't sit still without any form of entertainment.  While waiting to be seated in our favorite restaurant, I took the opportunity to review my 3-year old's familiarity with colors.

Me:      "Nemo, what is the color of my shirt?"
Nemo:  "Brown" (Correct!)
Me:      "What color is your shirt?"
Nemo:  "Pink!"  (Right!)
Me:      "What color are my shoes?"
Nemo:  "Black" (Exactamento!)
Me:      "How about your hair?"
Nemo:  "Light brown!"  (She distinguishes light and dark colors at three) 
Me:      "Your bag?"
Nemo:  "Red!!" (Yup, yup!!)
Me:      "How about Tita Myla's teeth?"   (My cousin flashed her sweetest smile)



Nemo:  "YELLOW!!!!"

I've never seen a smile fade that fast.  The transformation was amazing.  The next thing I know, my cousin was blushing like anything.  Her face was so red!  

It took us a few seconds in silence before we all started laughing.

Indeed, kids say the darndest things(and yes, they do not lie). ;)

    Kids do say the best things at times and yes (unless they want something) they are usually truthful too. They don't understand that what they are saying may hurt someone but as they grow up they learn this

    when kids say something nasty, it is alright or funny. but when oldies say same thing, that person has a tendency to be offended.

    Moral of the story: Whenever you ask a kid some questions, be prepared for the answers for they could definitely be outright candid and brutally honest. So be careful what you ask them. Lol!

    Haha. My son is like that, too. He described somebody else's teeth as yellow. Sabi ko na lang, yellow teeth are stronger...

    Indeed! so never tempt them to say things we don't like to hear... like teasing them or asking them if we are beautiful... we might not like their answer!

    Kids don't lie. Truth hurts sometimes haha. That situation/conversation you posted above seems like a good line or script for dentist or other teeth whitening or products endorsements hehe.

    LOL! This reminded me of the time I was teaching my 3 yo daughter how to enunciate a word and asked that she watch my mouth carefully. She did pay attention and looked intently at how I was moving my lips, then exclaimed, "Mama, you have a gap in your teeth. Yup, you have a small gap right there!" :P Kids talaga!

    Kakatuwa. Just like our son, Matt. He knows the colors too at age of two but sometimes, he will intentionally tell us the wrong color and when we asked him again he will say the right one.

    I love that kids are still honest. I frighten my kids with my yellow teeth. This is what happens to people who eat candy and don't brush. Now, they brush a lot.

    Hahaha yellow! hmm mine too it's yellowish since I was young and until now I never had found any magical paste to make it like soaked with an ariel or a tide powder.

    My son answered the same thing when his aunt asked him that! And my sister defended herself to the child and told him that yellow teeth is healthy. Which is what dentists say actually. haha! :-)
