Weekends and Kids and Storms Oh My!

My body clock does not have a snooze function.  I wish I can get an upgrade because, on weekends, I would like to be in bed until about 8:00 AM.  Instead, I wake up at 3:00 AM, toss and turn until I give up and find something to do.

This morning was no exception.  It was okay because, not being online all day yesterday, I can thank all of my friends who wished me well for my birthday.

It was hot and humid early this morning.  Closing the windows, pulling the curtains and cranking up (or is down?) the airconditioning, I was able to fall back asleep at 6:30 AM.

Another Year Older

The inevitable has come... I am another year older wiser older. :)

Most of the time, I get nostalgic whenever I have my birthday.  You know that feeling when something life altering happens and everything flashes back for a split second?  I get that almost every year although mine tends to run a lot slower.  I usually lay down awake at night thinking about what has happened in my life.  There are years when it makes me generally sad but most years that I cannot say thank you enough.

There's a lot to be thankful for and a lot to forget.  My secret to staying happy is to keep all the good stuff and learn from the bad stuff before forgetting them completely.  It keeps me sane albeit that technique being a bit escapist.

Cheers to more years, more parenting excitements and less bratty little girls! :)

Music and Lyrics

My daughter goes to a Catholic school.  Her school superiors are mostly nuns.

...

One of these days I am going to get a pink slip from the school principal to let me explain where my daughter gets her nursery rhyme lyrics.

Here's an example (intellectual property by my very creative husband).  My daughter was singing this at the top of her lungs when she got home from school.  I quickly locked my door because I was in a call with somebody from work.

Day, Night and The Whole Gray Area In Between

The whole idea of day, night, and the whole gray area in between is probably too much for a two-year old kid.

In bed last night after having Nemo's prayers, she asked how everyone was doing and where they are at right now.

"Where's Mamu?"
"In her room, sleeping. Go to sleep please."
"Ninang?"
 "Sleeping. Go to sleep please."
 "Tito Ryan?"
"In the office. Working.  Go to sleep please, Nemo.
 "Ninong Rene?"
"He's with his family.  Abroad. Sleep, Nemo."
 "Where is Portia?"
"Right next to you, sleeping. Go to sleep."

Seconds From Disaster

Today could have been listed as an unlucky day.  It was like watching Seconds From Disaster.

My daughter was about to ride the school bus.  Picture a five-year old kid who scowls at you for sending her to school on a rainy day.  She loves sleeping late.  Unfortunately, K-2 is scheduled very early in the morning to prepare them for big school next year.  So at  six o'clock in the morning, I get the if-looks-could-kill look.
